PHOTO NEWS: Disused Aircraft Causes Panic In Lagos
A scare was caused in Lagos on Thursday morning when a disused aircraft parked around Igando area of Lagos State was spotted by residents of the area. The incident drew the attention of residents who were surprised at the scenario and initially raised a false alarm of a crashed plane which spread to other parts of the state.Reports gathered later confirmed that the aircraft was conveyed from the airport to Igando and not a plane crash.
An official of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, who spoke with the press under the condition of anonymity, as he was not authorised to officially speak on the matter, confirmed that the plane was moved from the airport.
The official declined to tell us why the old plane was moved from the airport and for what purpose.
The plane, according to further information gathered, was parked at Dapsey Filling Station at Olowonla bus stop in Igando. We learnt that it took several hours before the plane was brought down by some people.
Meanwhile, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has said that a Hyab was only carrying the disused plane to a possible dump site.
